Canefield House

Welcome to Canefield House, a luxury three-bedroom villa, located high above Brewers Bay. Its ten acres of 17^th century sugar plantation grounds, the original steps where the island’s world-famous rums were born, now offer breathtaking views of local tropical forest and dramatic “ghut”, the jewel-like crescent bay, and the expansive open Atlantic Ocean.

The villa has a gated entrance and is surrounded by beautifully decorated gardens. There is a grand staircase from the parking area that leads you to the two-storied Main House, where you will find the Great Room, fully equipped gourmet kitchen, dining area for eight guests. The Great Room is the ideal area for gathering with friends and family, as it graced by cosy furnishings and has a wet bar with a mini-fridge. When the evenings arrive, you can flick on the large Smart TV or DVD player and pick a movie from the collection. There is also a surround sound system and top of the range CD player to make listening to music even more pleasurable, and there’s Wi-Fi throughout the villa. Another way to relax is by stepping through the French doors to a semi-circular terrace and you can follow a curved staircase down to the pool (which can be heated by advance request) and stone-tiled sun deck. An adjacent shaded gazebo is a welcome retreat from the sun and you can swing away the afternoon in the relaxing hammock.

Canefield House is comprised of three separate pods, each connected beautifully by garden pathways. Situated on the far side of the main pavilion is the master pavilion, housing the large air-conditioned king master bedroom with a sitting area, an office nook, a bathroom with stone and tile shower, walk-in closet & dressing area. French doors open to a private covered terrace overlooking green hills, and hung with a hammock, just right for a quiet afternoon snooze.

On the opposite side of the main pavilion is a walkway threaded through gardens to the air-conditioned guest bedroom pavilion, offering the Blue Suite and the Green Suite. The Blue Suite can be made up as a king bedroom, or with two twins (with your advance request). It features satellite TV, an alcove with two built-in single daybeds, ideal for a small child or two who must be near their parents or nanny. A walk-in closet and tiled bath with hand-painted sinks and mirrors are en-suite.  The Green Suite includes one queen bed and a day bed suitable for a small child.

Depending on the season, guests might be treated to fruit grown right on the estate, such as guava, coconut, avocado, banana, sour sop, breadfruit, mango, red and white grapefruit, papaya, key limes and lemons. Ask the housekeeper or Oliver, the estate’s long-time gardener, what might be ripe for picking.

Canefield House provides the ultimate in privacy, enclosed within a setting of natural beauty; it’s the outdoor-living experience here that makes this estate so memorable. At an elevation of 1,500 feet above the sea, it’s cooled by almost-constant trade winds, and its high location provides views for miles into the distance, with Brewers Bay set below.
