Tortola

As the archipelago’s largest island, and with a population of close on 40,000, Tortola holds many an adventure for both the avid explorer and the laidback beach goer. Road Town, the capital, sits at the center and is flanked by the simply named West and East Ends. While the best beaches are to be found on the island’s north shore, the rest of Tortola offers all sorts. Catch a wave at Cane Garden Bay’s renowned point break, explore ancient sugar works, windmills, distilleries, and botanic gardens, zipline across the lush hills, or venture offshore and try your hand at some of the best deep-sea fishing in the world.
