The North Sound in Virgin Gorda is often known as the Billionaire’s playground of the BVI due to high net worth and celebrity status’s invest in the natural beauty the Virgin Islands has to offer.
The sound comprises of 5 islands; Virgin Gorda, Moskito Island, Necker Island, Prickly Pear and Eustatia Island and is home to some of the BVI hotspots:
Saba Rock is one of the favourite places to go in the BVI as it quite literally has everything to offer from a little rock in the North Sound – a boutique hotel, a beach with a hammock, a restaurant, bar, a pool table, a spa and watersports including kitesurfing and e-foiling and of course 2 very instagrammable British phone boxes.
Bitter End Yacht Club
For nearly half a decade, The Bitter End Yacht Club (BEYC) has been the place for all things sailing and adventure giving it a world-class status amongst the sailing community. Perfectly located in the North Sound, the BEYC has recently relaunched it’s overwater bungalows called, The Lofts where guests can stay in a sailor like room made fully of sustainable materials giving the ambience of being on the water. Outside of this, you can moor up your boat, enjoy food and drinks at the yacht club, frolick around the beach playing beach games with friends and family.
Oil Nut Bay Marina Village
Oil Nut Bay in Virgin Gorda is it’s own entity on the island that was voted as one of Forbes’ top places to visit in 2023. Not only it is home to some of the most beautiful private villas and estate’s but also a stunning marina village with Nova restaurant with the famous circle that guests take the obligatory photo in and dock for boat owners and day charters alike to moor up and enjoy a scenic culinary delight. The Marina also boasts a luxury beach resortwear shop with flowing dresses and designer swimwear to dress the part when exploring the British Virgin Islands whether by land or sea. The newest addition to the Marina is E-foiling with Deep Sea Watersports – you absolutely must give this a try.
We have a selection of luxury villas near Leverick Bay so we couldn’t miss out the on-goings at the marina. Not only does the marina offer a fresh water pool, beach, bar and restaurant for maximum relaxation but you can also enjoy something a little bit more active then you can enjoy jetskis, paddleboards and even the likes of Snuba – a clever mix for those who want a little more adventure than snorkelling but do’t have the qualification for Scuba Diving. Finally, day charters and speed boats are available for rental at your leisure.

Ocean Surfari BVI are the go to fishing company if you’re looking for an experience unlike any other. You’ll meet the team on arrival – or they can pick you up if your villa location allows and off you’ll set to the famous North Drop by Anegada. This is one of the best places to go fishing in the BVI as fishermen catch the likes of large Tuna, Mahi Mahi and the elusive marlin (when in season).
A truly unforgettable family day out. Ask our team to organise a fishing charter when booking your villa with us.
One thing the BVI has to offer that not many places in the world have are the unparalleled beauty of our beaches and waters. Whether you are simply wanting a chilled family beach day or you’re heading done for a special celebration, our concierge team can organise a beach picnic for you for a full day out or you can make use of the available beach bars fully equipped with hot meals, snacks, coffee and of course cocktails and beers! Our favourite family beach spots in Tortola are listed below:
Brewer’s Bay sits on the North Side of Tortola and is a beautifully calm and quaint beach, idyllic for family beach trips – especially with super little ones. The waves are calm, the beach is clean and what’s really special is watching the pelican’s flying and diving into the sea – the kids will love it. If you need a break from the BVI’s sunny rays, Nicole’s beach bar is a little beach bar on the west side of the beach providing shelter, ice cream, drinks for little ones and grown ups as well as a few selective hot meals.
Cane Garden Bay
One of the local’s favourite beaches on Tortola due to the chilled island life vibe Cane Garden Bay has to offer. With a large selection of beach bars, Paradise Club and the beautiful Indigo on the beach there is plenty to keep you and your family occupied. Enjoy the calm sea waves as you take in the views of Jost Van Dyke and the boats mooring up whilst enjoy one of the most breathtaking sunsets in the British Virgin Islands…with a cocktail in hand of course.
Josiah’s Bay is a surfer’s dream beach. As you arrive you walk through the BVI surf school shack onto a usually quiet beach where the kids can run around and watch the surfers catch some incredible waves.
The surf school allows you to hire surfboards and boogie boards for a fun few hours in the surf and offers lessons for beginners through to seasonal experts.
A new addition to the beach is a cute little bar shack selling light snacks and drinks to replenish you after a play in the waves.
One of the quietest beaches on Tortola is Trunk Bay situated on the North Shore surrounded by some of our most stunning vacation rentals.
